Details
A bright midnight sky overhead catches the viewer’s eye as it is rendered as deeply as the gleam of a priceless jewel. The moon, just high enough to break the view over the wooden houses, is reflected in the shimmering water below. A lone figure walks across the embankment, under the warm orange glow from a lighted window, alongside the shadows of graceful willow trees and buildings lining the road. A boat is anchored under one of the trees, next to a cannon, and a tall telephone pole provides a strong vertical element that advances the eye toward the sky once more.
Connoisseur's Note
This work was published by Watanabe and is the first edition of the design executed in a limited edition of 150. This design is hand-numbered 94/150 on the reverse. This impression is an excellent example of the design. Exhibiting fresh, untouched colors as sharp and vivid as the day it was printed.
