Details
Mt. Fuji towers majestically above Hasui’s composition, occupying the vast majority of the design. Hasui pays careful attention to Fuji’s imposing form by focusing on the mountain’s distinctive topography and the dynamic interplay of light cast on its summit at dawn. Beyond the dramatic hues of yellow, crimson, and orange, Fuji hosts a distinctive and convincing atmospheric effect created by the skillful use of bokashi (color gradation). The brilliance of dawn extends to the lower portion of the composition as its reflections are gently carried to the shore.
Connoisseur's Note
This print bears a Watanabe C-type seal, indicating it is an early pre-war impression. The condition is excellent, with no issues to note.
