Details

This impression is a rare color variant, with an overall reddish hue one would expect to see at dawn or at dusk. The print is an example of the color variances printers could achieve utilizing the same blocks. The entire design is saturated with this fleeting light—all components in the design are steeped in this light. Hasui has successfully captured a moment one might come across once in a lifetime—a steep hike at dusk, leading up to a clearing between trees and as you look out you find this breathtaking scene.

Connoisseur's Note

This impression, with the rich scarlet in the sky and in the water, is a rare color variant and has much deeper colors throughout the design than the commercial version found in the catalog raisonne. This print is a true time capsule. It was never framed or displayed and was stored in archival boxes. Prints in this pristine condition seldom come up for sale.  This is an exceedingly rare opportunity to own a stunning Hasui design with fresh and vivid colors in its original state.
