Details
Nagoya castle towers over Koitsu’s composition. The surrounding grounds erupt in cherry blooms. The bright crimson and pink dusk echoes the blooms and multiplies their domain. The dark blue night sky descends from above, crowning the composition and extending the verticality of the design beyond the confines of the print.
Connoisseur's Note
This early, first state, bears the Doi Teiichi publisher’s seal along with the carver printer seal of Ikeda & Yokoi. The print is in an exceedingly fine state of preservation with sharp and vivid colors—one of the finest first state impressions of this design known.
