Details

A heron sits resiliently on top of a pine branch as a winter wind howls. The bird's plumage reveals the wind's strength. The large pine in the background is rendered in a softer gray wash, suggesting a thin layer of snow caused by the whirling winds. The design has hand-applied gofun randomly sprinkled across the composition, providing a sense of drama. Despite the power of the composition, there is a deeply contemplative quality that is quite thought-provoking.
