It is said that every Japanese print artist must eventually tackle Mt. Fuji as a subject. Kaneko took on the challenge by producing a series featuring this iconic location. In this design, Kaneko places stylized clouds executed in gold at the base of the mountain. As the eye ascends, the artist carved an intricate design that showcases Fuji’s rough terrain. At its summit, a gold color pigment has been applied to showcase Fuji’s iconic silhouette bathed in sunlight. The surrounding sky boasts a solid silver mica background with a series of stylized clouds.

Kaneko’s work is both striking and accessible. His designs are charged with the poetics of haiku in their simplicity and elegance. At this price point, they make stunning and affordable gifts for someone to cherish for years to come.
This impression is in excellent condition with pristine colors. The print has some printer stains at the lower right caused at the time of printing. Kaneko’s early work from the 80s and early 90s is quite hard to find.
