Details

Mt. Fuji towers majestically above Hasui’s composition occupying the vast majority of the design. Hasui pays careful attention to Fuji’s imposing form by focusing on the mountain’s distinctive topography and the dynamic interplay of light that is cast on her submit at dawn. Beyond the dramatic hues of yellow, crimson, and orange, Fuji plays host to a distinctive and quite convincing atmospheric effect created by the skillful use of bokashi (color gradation). The brilliance of dawn is disseminated to the further portion below as its reflections are gently carried to shore.

Connoisseur's Note

This print bears a Watanabe B-type seal, making it an exceedingly early first-state impression. The print's condition is excellent, with no condition issues to note. This print has never been framed, exhibiting colors as fresh as the day they were printed.
