Details

Set against the majestic mountains of Kyoto, Sadanobu's artwork presents a mesmerizing panorama dominated by the Golden Pavilion, initially erected in 1397 as a retreat for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. The enchanting landscape is heightened by the gently falling snow that blankets the surroundings. The gold-embellished pavilion, adorned with snow, stands prominently above a meticulously crafted man-made moat rendered in deep blues that convey the chilliness of its waters.

It's noteworthy to explore how other Ukiyo-e artists approached this subject in their own interpretations. We invite you to examine Hiroshige's rendition of this scene, showcased here.

Connoisseur's Note

The print is in an excellent state of preservation. The impression is sharp, and the colors are as vivid as the day they were printed.
