The rolling fog has settled into a quiet landscape. Poking above the murky trail are the unmistakable hills of the Bay Area and a lone tree. Obata has parted the fog in small sections affording us glimpses of the tall grasses of late summer.

Connoisseur's Note

This painting was acquired from Obata’s next-door neighbor in Berkeley, California. Not unusual, Obata was quite generous with his artwork and often gifted his original work to friends, students, and neighbors.
