Details
Two humanoid figures face each other in an intimate embrace, they share a kiss. The background boasts an uplifting yellow that anchors the composition and grants the viewer’s eye the ability to focus on the action at hand—the psychical connection between the figures. The figures are composed of an interesting array of closely articulated fine lines in various patterns that provide the composition texture and depth and keep the eye focused on the figures.
Kinoshita’s work demonstrates a fascination with the human condition. His designs abandon subjectivity and are primarily focused on the greater scope of humanity. The title of his prints rarely departs from universal concepts. His figures are devoid of personal features and are meant as avatars for his viewers in a stage of human experience as constructed by the artist.
Connoisseur's Note
This design is a rarely seen early composition by the artist. It is likely the print was produced in a handful of impressions, or it may be unique, as it is unnumbered.
